We live in a state climate emergency. Last September at the Global Climate Action Summit, the World GBC announced a commitment for new buildings to be Zero Energy by 2030 and all building to be Zero Carbon by 2050. This type of bold climate leadership is necessary for the world to be able to limit greenhouses gasses quickly enough to keep global warming under 1.5 degrees.
Due to the Covid-19 containment measures, please check the latest status of the event at the organisers’ webpage.
Quantum Leap | Costa Rica
Sep 2 - 4, 2020 San Jose, Costa Rica
The Living Future Costa Rican Collaborative, Regenerative Built Environment Institute (REGENBE), and the Costa Rican Export Agency, PROCOMER are partnering to bring a major Regional Collaborative Summit in Costa Rica.
This Summit will focus on the Institute’s flagship program, the Living Building Challenge, and the ideas and frameworks that support it. The Living Building Challenge (LBC) is the world’s most advanced certification program for buildings. It calls for the creation of building projects that operate as cleanly, beautifully, and efficiently as nature’s architecture. LBC is the built environment’s most rigorous performance standard. As a standard, it provides a holistic approach to high-performance building that aims to address health, community, equity, energy, water, and beyond.
Called Quantum Leap, the Summit is a bold education initiative intended to catalyze action across Latin and South America, leveraging Costa Rica as hub, for ILFI’s visionary programs. Through an aggressive education program, we will empower leading building industry professionals to become the most capable advocates possible in their region and provide the training and practice skills necessary to create a Living Future in their community.
