It was necessary to meet two key challenges: the limited amount of land available for the erection of the PV panels; and extreme weather and geological conditions. Engineers had to take into account cyclonic weather patterns when it came to deciding where to install the panels. The installation underwent stringent testing to ensure it can withstand winds up to 210 km/h.Total costs were €6.9 million, with over €600 000 from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project also benefited from a 30% tax exemption.
