Andreas Gyr remembers his first car fondly: a 1982 Ford Escort, which had the gas parts ripped out and replaced with 17 golf cart batteries and an electric motor. “It had about a 15-mile range and it topped out at like 58 miles per hour,” Andreas remembers. “I’d carry an extension cord around and plug it into friends’ wall outlets to make it home.” It might have been inconvenient, but it made him excited about the future. “It was different, it was hopeful, we charged it with solar panels!” he says.

Could you describe the project and its objectives?    The objectives of the NEWCOM project are twofold. First, we are supporting the development of training schemes for enabling construction workers and building professionals to build according to the nearly zero-energy building standard and second, we are preparing a basis for the mutual recognition of the developed training schemes.

The con­fer­en­ce will run from 20 Septem­ber to 8 Oc­to­ber 2020 and includes a multitude of lectures, workshops and building tours! The Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC) and the Polish Association of Developers (PZFD) signed a cooperation agreement to promote the first Polish Green Certification for residential buildings, Zielony Dom, developed by PLGBC within the SMARTER Finance for Families project.
