The  H2020 project ExcEED (European Energy Efficient building district Database) is funded by the European Commission and aims at collecting data coming from new, modern and energy efficient buildings (such as energy performance, CO2 emissions, etc.). The project answers the need for transparency and comparability of energy performance calculations. The scope of ExcEED is to create a European database for measured and qualitative data on beyond the state-of-the-art buildings and districts. Building Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have been selected and developed to quantify and benchmark the energy efficiency and the environmental quality at building and district level. Advanced tools and KPIs will be associated to the database to analyse real energy performance and environmental quality at the level of single building/district, geo-cluster of buildings, and European new or renovated building stock.

The latest factsheet launched by the EU-funded project ExcEED recalls the main objectives of the project and presents the need for such a platform to collect existing buildings’ energy performance data, especially given the contribution it can give to the development of the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI).

The SRI was introduced by the European Commission (EC) in the amended Energy Performance of Buildings Directive: the EC should establish a voluntary rating system for the smart-readiness of buildings across the EU by 31st December 2019. This includes the definition of the indicator, its calculation methodology and the technical modalities for its implementation.

ExcEED can contribute to the SRI development by collecting and processing in its platform, that will be launched by the end of May 2019, available data regarding state-of-the-art buildings and their features. Having a huge set of operational data enables to choose the most important building functioning parameters and indicators that should be considered in the SRI calculation.

ExcEED is also organising a webinar on June 4, from 12:00 to 13:15 CET in collaboration with BUILDUP, that will present the project results up to date analysing the current stage in regard to the project goals. The ExcEED project has developed a collaborative platform that aims to be feed with as much data as possible. During the webinar, the ExcEED team will do an online demonstration of how these data could be uploaded. This database would support users to better design energy efficient buildings and define innovative building construction policies.  -  Agenda and registration link are available here.
