One of main goals of the Sophia project is to make some of the existing top-class PV Research Infrastructures available for the benefit of the whole European photovoltaic community.The project provides European researchers and companies with the opportunity to develop their own research projects through the Transnational Access (TA) to the Sophia consortium's Research Infrastructures (RI) – free-of-charge and supported by the European Commission. KUBIK by Tecnalia is one of the Research Infrastructures that participates in the SOPHIA project.

The challenges to implement Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (NZEBs) and achieving minimum shares of Renewable Energy are tremendous. There are various indications raising concerns regarding the reliability of Energy Performance Certificate declarations and the quality of the works. Achieving a significant improvement requires strong commitment from authorities and other major players, as well as sufficiently broad societal support.

QUALICHeCK, a new EU IEE co-funded project under the 2013 call for proposals, started on 1 March 2014, announces the launch of its website. QUALICHeCK aims at determining best cases and tackling bottlenecks to increase the reliability of Energy Performance Certification input data, to influence quality of construction and to support compliance with building Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy regulations, in the transition phase towards Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings.
