Enhancing at an Early Stage the Investment Value Chain of Energy Efficiency Projects Triple-A has a practical result-oriented approach, seeking to identify which investments can be considered as Triple-A investments, fostering sustainable growth, while also having an extremely strong capacity to meet their commitments, already from the first stages of investments generation and preselection/ pre-evaluation.

Two projects called BERTIM and MORE-CONNECT have demonstrated ways of retrofitting prefabricated façade and roof panels that incorporate energy efficiency improvements. This kind of offsite construction means building renovations take less time on the building site, as little as a couple of days.

The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) has made several updates to its Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) Standard in order to fast track carbon reductions.   Canada’s buildings are a top contributor to carbon emissions, representing 17% of Canada’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Updates to the ZCB Standard reflect the urgent need for change.   The ZCB Standard v2 provides two pathways for any type of building to reach zero carbon.

Data is fundamental to understand how much a building consumes, how much it is efficient and whether thermal comfort is adequate. However, how should this data be evaluated? Is it still possible to increase energy efficiency of buildings? A solution would be to make a comparison with similar contexts: for example, how much does a building consume on average under specific climatic conditions? How much energy can it obtain from its installed renewable energy sources?

As a visible sign of the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energies, a former coal silo and heating plant in Basel is covered with coloured PV modules. The entire site is under heritage protection, the remodelled building was required to match the style and colour scheme of the site.

However, by 2018 the construction sector experienced a steep decline compared with 2010, reflected by the decrease of its total added value and turnover value.
