The SUSHI project stems from a holistic approach to facing common challenges that have already been identified in historic districts of six cities in five countries: Lisbon (PT), Valletta (MT), Savona (IT), Ptuj (SI), Nicosia (CY), and Sassari (IT). With the idea of sharing, the project will adopt a common structure to identify opportunities for innovation, which will accelerate the learning process and transform historic districts into sustainable and lively districts.

The aim of the Urban Adaptation Support Tool (UAST) is to assist cities, towns and other local authorities in developing, implementing and monitoring climate change adaptation plans. UAST was developed as a practical guidance for urban areas, in recognition of their importance in the European economy. The Urban Adaptation Support Tool outlines all the steps needed to develop and implement an adaptation strategy and makes references to valuable guidance materials and tools.

Renewable Energy forms one of the pillars for delivering global sustainable environment and the commitment to climate change targets. The renewable energy industry has matured, with huge investments being ploughed into it globally. Global new investment in renewable energy (excluding large hydro-electric projects) was around US$241.6 billion in 2016, with over 138.5GW of added renewable power capacity worldwide. This capacity is equivalent to 55% of all the generating capacity and was approximately double that in fossil fuel generation in 2016.

Architect’s Council of Europe ACE published the 2018 Sector Study – a biennial survey that collects and analyses statistical, sociological and economic data on the European Architects, the architectural market and the architectural practices.   Responses from 30.000 Architects in 30 European countries give, among others, information on BIM use in practice.   More info on BIMcert website.

The BIMcert project will develop a blended, fully supported suite of Building Information Modelling learning tools, which will allow geographically dispersed construction project teams to use technology to enhance information exchange and collaboration. The project will have a particular focus on testing the BIM approaches to green and passive building design to contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency.
