  Concept: The EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive requires all new buildings to be nearly zero-energy by the end of 2020. Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) is crucial for the decarbonisation of the building stock in Europe.   The technology integrates solar elements into buildings to generate electricity.

For the first time ever the EAE Award 2021 ceremony will be included in the program of the 5th European ETICS Forum, scheduled for 16th September 2021 in Prague/CZ.   The new award aims to honour amazing examples of energy-efficient projects from across Europe using External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS).

The COP26 climate summit hosted by the UK in November will include a focus on architecture and construction after its president Alok Sharma announced plans to include a ‘built environment day’   Sharma, who last week quit as business secretary to focus on his climate role full-time, revealed the decision in a recent letter to the World Green Building Council. In it, he said that ‘action to decarbonise the buildings and construction sector is critical to meeting our Paris Agreement goals’.

To predict the profitability of an investment, financial calculation methods are used. Since the traditional approach, based on pay-back time, is inefficient, the project propose tools (in web and Excel versions) that enables one to employ several methods, either independently or in combination.   In particular, Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return prove efficient and helpful for building managers, energy auditors, and other investors.

Concept:   Today, multi-disciplinary teams from all over the world have to collaborate in order to bring a physical product from idea to market. A professional design tool enabling them to work collaboratively in real-time, directly in 3D would ease this process.   But building a design platform for manipulating and rendering large 3D data in real time for such a wide range of users is an enormous technological challenge.
