Ninety percent of the existing building stock in Europe was built before 1990. These buildings are in urgent need for a significant improvement of energy-efficiency through renovation.
State-of-the-art renovation solutions are available, but costly and lengthy renovation processes and incomprehensible technical complexities hinder the achievement of a wide impact at a European scale.

Nobatek/INEF4, a French RTO involved in H2020 projects, is organizing a 1 day conference in Bordeaux on the 23rd of October, called DIGITAL TOOLS Conference - Digitalise or die: New tools for the construction sector. European experts on BIM and digitalization of the construction sector will speak about the opportunities, challenges and barriers of the digital transformation of the construction sector. The topics addressed will be both technical and research-oriented and above all market-oriented.

P2ENDURE promotes evidence-based innovative solutions for deep renovation based on prefabricated Plug-and-Play systems in combination with on-site robotic 3D-printing and Building Information Modeling (BIM), demonstrated and monitored at 10-real projects in 4 geo-clusters with EU-wide replication potentials.
Among the project targets is that to improve the availability and performance of energy saving solutions for deep renovation and transformation of vacant, obsolete or sub-optimal public buildings into dwellings.

The Horizon 2020 funded project Net-UBIEP (Network for Using BIM to Increase the Energy Buildings Performance) aims at increasing energy performance of buildings by wide spreading and strengthening the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), during the life cycle of the building. The use of BIM will allow to simulate the energy performance of the building using different materials and components, both to be used in the building design and/or in building design refurbishment.
