This publication provides an overview of the most relevant annual energy relatedstatistics for the European Union as a whole and for each of its Member States.   The data contained in this pocketbook is drawn from several sources: from the European Commission’s services, from international organisations such as the European Environment Agency and the International Energy Agency and also from the European Commission’s estimates when other data is unavailable.   The publication is divided into five parts:

This document presents the final report for the study for a comprehensive assessment of the macro-level and sectoral impacts of energy efficiency policies. The report is a first attempt to apply this framework to make a comprehensive quantitative assessment of such multiple benefits and their trade-offs. It shows that enhanced energy efficiency in Europe beyond a 27% target for 2030 could led to substantial social, economic and environmental effects.

There are many BUILD UP news items referring to infringement, e.g.: http://www.buildup.eu/en/search/infringement   According to the EU treaties, the European Commission may take legal action – an infringement procedure – against an EU Member State that fails to implement EU law. The Commission may refer the issue to the European Court of Justice, which in certain cases can impose financial penalties.

The Energy Efficiency Financial Institutions Group (EEFIG) was established in 2013 by the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy (DG Energy) and United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI). EEFIG has created an open dialogue and work platform for public and private financial institutions, industry representatives and sector experts to identify the barriers to the long-term financing for energy efficiency and propose policy and market solutions to them.
