142 school buildings and one hospital from the city of Craiova, in Romania, will be thermally rehabilitated through the ESCO scheme for public buildings.The ESCO programme was launched in May 2013 and in charge of the scheme is BERD which received funds from the Global Environmental Fund. Within the context of the programme, the selected cities will receive technical assistance for the identification and preparation of the energy efficiency projects targeting public buildings.  For more information please see the articles (in Romanian).

The scheme uses an Energy Service Company (ESCo) to implement energy efficiency measures – in this case, retrofitting public buildings and enabling organisations to cut running costs, energy consumption and carbon emissions. The ESCo guarantees the level of energy savings, thus offering a secure financial saving over the period of the agreement.

The ACEEE and AWE have awarded 5 exemplary winners in Water-Energy Efficiency Programs. Of the five, one stands out for energy performance contracting in public buildings. There are also other noteworthy cases which are highlighted in the seven honorable mentions which were also recognized. The lessons learned by these programs can be found in a new report, ¨Tackling the Nexus: Exemplary Programs that Save Both Energy and Water¨, released by ACEEE and AWE.

De documenten die op de website van Agentschapnl staan bevatten een voorbeeldcontract en een handleiding voor een energieprestatiecontract. Dit energieprestatiecontract fungeert als een contractueel kader voor de invoering van een overeenkomst op het gebied van energiekostenbesparing. Nu het bij het contracteren van energieprestaties gaat om een veelomvattend concept, variërend van het plannen van maatregelen via de uitvoering daarvan tot het garanderen van energiebesparende resultaten, wordt in het energieprestatiecontract een regeling gegeven voor een hele reeks diensten.
