On May 23rd, the 1st Expert Workshop on Integrated Energy Design was hold in Gothenburg (Sweden). It was organized by the European project MaTrID “Market Transformation towards Nearly Zero Energy Buildings through Widespread Use of Integrated Energy Design”, which is currently implemented in the frame of the Intelligent Energy Europe programme.

The second European study tour will be the CIEM and CIRCE buildings in Zaragoza, Spain and will take place at 10.00 a.m. until 18:30 p.m. beginning with the CIEM building (Av.de la Autonomía nº 7, 50003, Zaragoza, España) and following up with the CIRCE building (Calle Mariano Esquillor Gomez 15, 50018, Zaragoza, España).

The Ministry of Economic Development of Kosovo will host a regional workshop on energy efficient and green public buildings organized by the AIDA Project. A high number of municipal representatives and building professionals are expected to attend this unique event from countries in the region, such as Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Bulgaria.

There is an urgent need to increase the energy efficiency of European building stock. Buildings account for 40 percent of total energy consumption in the European Union.   Nearly zero energy buildings (NZEBs), a new generation of low energy buildings, with integrated renewable energy sources, increased levels of comfort and limited environmental impact, will play a pivotal role in improving European building stock.
