In the context of the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), this workshop, which will take place  on Thursday 22 June 2017 (13:30 - 18:00) in Brussels, Belgium in the framework of the EUSEW 2017 Energy Days, will aim to share feedback from architectural projects that have successfully overcome the challenges of achieving healthy, comfortable and productive environments at measurably low energy and resource consumption and to draw policy lessons from this.

The purpose of Buildsmart, a EU FP7 project, is to demonstrate and mainstream cost-effective technologies and methods in the design of buildings with very low energy consumption in different European climates. The project also has a strong focus on energy-related behavioural issues, recognising the role end-users play on energy use in buildings. A large scale deployment of the used methods should be possible to practice 2020 in order to facilitate the implementation of the recast of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
