Sulgrave Gardens comprises 30 family homes in four blocks with a mix of typologies (houses, apartments and maisonettes) and tenures (9 homes for affordable rent, 13 for shared ownership and 8 private houses) in a conservation area in West London. At the time of certification, Sulgrave Gardens was the largest Passivhaus development in London. The scheme is arranged in four blocks. Two are Passivhaus certified and two designed to Passivhaus principles.

A System for Quality Assurance when Retrofitting existing buildings to Energy efficient buildings
The IEE SQUARE project aimed to assure energy efficient retrofitting of multifamily housing with good indoor environment, in a systematic and controlled way. To achieve this, a quality assurance (QA) system for retrofitting and maintenance has been adopted to conditions in several European countries and implemented in four pilot projects in Austria, Spain, Sweden and Finland.

KredEx is a government owned non-profit provider of financial services established in 2001 by the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications (MoEAC). In 2009, KredEx setup the KredEx Revolving Fund. The Fund provided soft loans for multifamily apartment building owners who wished to reduce energy consumption and increase energy efficiency of their homes.

Die BINE Projektinfo präsentiert ein energieeffizientes Quartiersprojekt in der Münchner Innenstadt. Im Stadtteil Haidhausen wurde von der städtischen Wohnungsgesellschaft GWG ein Komplex aus mehreren Mehrfamilienhäusern aus den 1950er Jahren energetisch saniert, nachverdichtet und CO2-neutral mit Wärme versorgt. Das Kernstück des Nahwärmeheizsystems ist eine Gasmotor-Wärmepumpe, die Grundwasser als Wärmequelle nutzt und die Gebäude beheizt und das Trinkwarmwasser erzeugt.

Specific guidance for sub-metering of thermal energy in multi-unit buildings (implementation of Articles 9-11 of Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency (updated version))
Upon request by the European Commission, a series of guidelines were published to support Member States authorities and building owners in implementing art. 9-11 of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED 2012/27/EU) concerning the consumption of thermal energy for heating, cooling and hot water in multi-apartment and multi-purpose buildings.

Project summaryThree multi-family houses built between 1949 and 1957 have been modernised and given an energy efficient retrofit with the aim of achieving a CO2-neutral heat supply. The urban densification of the existing space by construction of a fourth (new) building and the addition of another floor on each of the three existing buildings made this project, located in an attractive area in Munich's city center, financially attractive for the building owner, the housing company GWG Munich.
