Greek households have applied to a subsidy program to replace their old electric water heaters with solar thermal collectors. The first round of grants is envisaged to 120,000 beneficiaries. One requirements is that the electric water heaters must be functional as they are going to be recycled.

The voucher can specifically be used for the purchase and installation of the solar water heater, the removal of the electric device and for transportation. Subsidies can be intended also for second residences and rented homes.
