ES-SO Position Paper: Solar Shading is essential for low energy buildings

Share this Post:
Solar shading is a key element for improving the energy efficiency and daylight management of existing buildings and in optimising the low-energy designs of new buildings. This existing technology which is so far under-utilised can provide a major impact on the reduction of energy consumption and the carbon footprint of the built environment. At the same time it can improve the thermal and visual comfort of occupants. But solar shading must be considered in the very early design phase of the building - or its refurbishment. now being presented to other stakeholders in the building sector.
