The International Energy Agency's Energy Efficiency Market Report 2017 shows that German citizens have had the highest benefit from realised measures for increased energy efficiency. The average expenditures per household were USD 580 (around €500) lower in 2016 compared to 2015. Without energy efficiency measures since 2000 the energy related costs per household would have been 27% higher in 2016. Efficiency saved German households USD 45 billion (around € 38.3 billion) in 2016.
