RES Champions League report: A Renewable energy Competition Between European Cities and Towns ¨PLay Now!¨

Share this Post:
After nearly three years of friendly renewable energy competition between cities and towns, the RES Champions League partners assessed their achievements and compiled key information on the project in a colourful document, logically subtitled with the famous motto: ¨ Play Now! ¨.

This document reports on the key European events and exchange activities that took place during the last three years, but also promotes the best practices from the 2010 and 2011 European champions of renewable energy.

There is a lot to learn from these front-runners of all sizes from 7 different countries. As no European contest would exist without national leagues, their experiences are related in a dedicated section. The Solarbundesliga (German solar league) is still very popular after more than ten years, what brings hope and motivation to the 7 other leagues that have been created in his wake.  The RES Champions League is still a movement in progress and additional leagues are expected to join within the next years. That's why the last section of the document focuses on methodological guidelines that could inspire additional organisations over Europe and provide them with useful explanations to take the step.
