The report highlights 21 solar solutions in European cities as best practices to scale up renewable technologies and in particular solar energy.

Around 80% of energy consumption in the European Union comes from urban activity. Local authorities and regional energy agencies are leading and pushing towards an efficient energy transition. The report highlights some best practices around Europe concerning solar technologies.

Some of these projects and initiatives are:

  • 2 PVs projects in Cabildo and in the energy community of Alojera on the La Gomera Gran Canaria island
  • The solar roofs programme of the city of Zagreb and the Solar PV potential tool, developed by the city
  • 35,000 PV systems, covering 15% of the annual residential electricity demand in Austria
