The CoNZEBs team has completed the activity on the identification of potential cost reductions in the design and construction processes. The scientific partners and the housing organisations assessed the cost related to the design and planning phase according to the specific conditions applying in the participant countries (Germany, Denmark, Italy and Slovenia). Also the temporal development of construction costs for the main categories was investigated.

CommONEnergy focuses on existing shopping malls to be refurbished and buildings with a different original function, redesigned to become shopping malls. Wholesales and Retail buildings represent 28% of the total non-residential ones (BPIE, 2010). Considering typical shopping malls high impact on modern society (ICSC, 2008), the project addresses their transformation as lighthouses of energy efficient architectures and systems as well as assessment transparency.    OBJECTIVES

The 2018 joint AIVC – TightVent – venticool conference Smart Ventilation for buildings in Juan-Les-Pins, France, proved highly successful with more than 200 participants from 27 countries attending the event and confirming once again the continuously growing interest in the fields of building & ductwork airtightness, (smart) ventilation, IAQ & health and ventilative/resilient cooling.

The project STUNNING aims at building up a stakeholder community around a Renovation Hub designed as a knowledge sharing platform, providing information on innovative solutions for building renovation and novel business models for their adoption and large scale replication. The provided solutions involve affordable and adaptable refurbishment packages, taking into consideration the whole renovation value chain.

The Club of Rome’s first report and early whistle-blowers’ calls from the late 1960s on the Earth’s environmental stress, are today backed by concrete facts and data on the need for change. A significant 40 % of energy use relates to construction and buildings, a key element of the equation. The current energy demand of existing building stock needs to be drastically reduced.
