What is the CREATE project?

On the one hand, historic buildings stand for a considerable part of societal energy use and the pressure to reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions is increasing. On the other hand, the historic building stock is an important cultural and material resource that we need to manage carefully for the benefit of present and future generations. Thus, we must find ways to balance the needs of building conservation and energy conservation.

At the end of May the consortium came together in Lund, Sweden, to catch up on the latest developments, align on the status of the project and pinpoint future actions.

Mission Innovation has launched a new recognition programme Mission Innovation Champions to celebrate and support innovative individuals who are accelerating the clean energy revolution. The programme was launched at the occasion of the Third Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-3) on 22-23 May 2018 at Malmö, Sweden, and is currently accepting registrations.

The Report "Understanding user needs" is an analytic report based on a survey of 1500+ participants from Bulgaria, Poland and Portugal.
The iBRoad project aims to eliminate barriers to deep renovation by developing an Individual Building Renovation Roadmap for single-family houses. The tool provides a customised renovation plan over a long-term period (10-20 years), which considers the occupants’ needs and specific situations.

Are you planning to renovate a building? Would you like to combine energy efficiency improvements with architectural additions? The EU-funded ABRACADABRA project has developed 3 decision support tools for this purpose which you can test for free.
Case study buildings should either have planned energy renovations or have already undergone renovations. Tools and analytical methods developed by the project team will be applied to each case study building, providing valuable technical, financial and regulatory outcomes to aid the decision-making process.

The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) introduced Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) with the aim to create more transparency about the energy performance of individual buildings. To date, the implementation of this instrument varies significantly across Europe in terms of scope, information, comparability and user-friendliness, limiting its acceptance by users as well as its market penetration.
