By addressing all aspects simultaneously, ESP-r allows the designer to explore the complex relationships between a building's form, fabric, air flow, plant and control. ESP-r is based on a finite volume, conservation approach in which a problem (specified in terms of geometry, construction, operation, leakage distribution, etc.) is transformed into a set of conservation equations (for energy, mass, momentum, etc.) which are then integrated at successive time-steps in response to climate, occupant and control system influences.

Web suite of building energy simulators that model energy, comfort, and daylighting performance, and give estimates of the long-term cost of utilities. The simulations restrict flexibility in order to offer users greater ease-of-use and speed. The tool can be quickly mastered by non-technical designers, and runs fast enough to allow them the scope to experiment with many different versions of a design during a single sitting.

Her speech included also the following words: "For a long time, Copenhagen was the name of a distant deadline. Next year, next COP, next month… But now it is now! Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Danish capital! After 'B' for Bonn, Bangkok, and Barcelona the turn has come to 'C'. C for Copenhagen. But also C for Constructiveness, C for Cooperation, and hopefully in the end C for Commitment and Consensus!

The WEO 2009 sets out a timetable of actions needed to limit the long-term concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere to 450 parts per million of carbon-dioxide equivalent and to keep the global temperature rise to around 2 ° Celsius. Alongside its sombre warning that every year of delay in implementing these measures adds $500 billion to the energy sector’s mitigation costs, the IEA highlights there are cost-effective solutions to avoid severe climate change, while also enhancing energy security.

A Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Mexico has shown that green solutions have strong potential to increase comfort and quality in life - important considerations for fast-growing, emerging economies. China's programme of targets for the 1000 most energy intensive enterprises led to permanent improvements in energy management and efficiencies in these companies. The WWF-World Wide Fund for Nature urges the G20 Finance Ministers to take the steps required now to ensure that the next major wave of infrastructure investment is green.
