This guide about insulation of buildings has been published by the energy information centre energivie.info, implemented by ADEME and the French Region of Alsace.

The guide explains in a simple way the main notions linked to thermal insulation (thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, thermal transmission, thermal capacity, thermal inertia,...). It provides information about the hygroscopic properties of insulation materials and with different other aspects of insulation products: life cycle environmental impacts, reaction to fire, certification, .... 

Then the different insulation materials/products are presented with their characteristics and the way to implement them. A synthesis table allows their comparison.
