These guidebooks are good examples of learning how to develop and implement three innovative financing schemes that have been tested by 11 European cities and regions.
Although many cities and regions have engaged into the energy transition, financing sustainable energy measures remains a great challenge. Some project investment costs are high, and covering them by using only municipal budget and traditional financing mechanisms is difficult.

Many construction projects always have one thing in common – the energy infrastructure is key. The guidelines are clear: less CO2 emissions, better lifetime and improved climate protection, all achieved through both intention and action. The influence of insulation on efficiency and cost savings should be quantified and considered in every decision.
A new calculation tool has been launched in order to provide detailed answers to these questions.

By the end of 2015, a series of free postgraduate level training courses in Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) will begin around Europe.
These ‘Professional Energy Skills in NZEB’ courses aim to empower building professionals through the development of skills in energy efficiency and integration of renewables in the retrofit of existing housing stock.
The program is for EU engineers, architects and building manager professionals who are interested in energy efficiency applied to buildings.
