People spend up to 90% of their lives indoors, so it is perhaps not surprising that the quality of the environment created has a significant impact on their health and well-being. What is perhaps even more surprising is that the indoor air quality of some buildings, including modern low energy buildings, has been shown to be poorer than urban outdoor air quality.

A range of breakthrough eco-building solutions which tackle the emerging problem of indoor air quality have been presented by the ECO-SEE project at the Ecobuild construction fair in London.   The solutions include novel insulation, coating and panel products which improve air quality by passively regulating humidity, capturing VOCs, and removing indoor organic pollutants through photocatalysis. External and internal wall panels have also been developed, in addition to design tools to support end users.

Väikeelamute rekonstrueerimistoetus Taotlusvoor on avatud!   Meede on avatud alates 14. november 2016 ja toetust eraldatakse jooksvalt kuni meetme eelarveliste vahendite ammendumiseni.   Toetuse määr on kuni 30% toetatavate tegevustega seotud abikõlblikest kuludest. Maksimaalne võimalik toetussumma on 15 000 eurot väikeelamu kohta. Ülejäänud maksumuse peab tagama taotleja omafinantseeringuna.

Small residential buildings make up 1/3 of Estonia’s housing stock. Average energy consumption per square metre in buildings in Estonia is higher compared to the other EU Member States, and a cold climate is not the only reason for it.   From 14 November 2016, reconstruction grants for increasing the energy efficiency of small residential buildings can be sought from KredEx until the funds are exhausted.

The European Commission is organizing a public conference on Financing Energy Efficiency in the Baltic States, in partnership with the Latvian government, on 11 November 2016 in Riga (Latvia) from 9.00 to 15.30.    The event aims to share best practices from the region on how energy efficiency can be financed through private funds and innovative financing instruments, notably in the building and industry sectors. Speakers will focus on practical experiences in developing and structuring investment programmes, which will then be discussed with the different stakeholders.
