The IEA Implementing Agreement on District Heating and Cooling including Combined Heat and Power, has joined the initiative as a BUILD UP Partner. The IEA Implementing Agreement on District Heating and Cooling including Combined Heat and Power, deals with the design, performance and operation of distribution systems and consumer installations. The Implementing Agreement is dedicated to helping to make district heating and cooling and combined heat and power powerful tools for energy conservation and the reduction of environmental impacts of supplying heat.

In Annex 56  a new methodology for energy and carbon emissions optimized building renovation, as a basis for future standards, will be developed to be used by interested private entities and agencies for their renovation decisions as well as by governmental agencies for the definition of regulations and their implementation. This methodology will be accompanied by good-practice guides that integrate appropriate and cost effective technologies as well as by good renovation examples.

 The goal of this IEA project, Annex 47 (2005 - 2010) is to enable the effective commissioning of existing and future buildings in order to improve their operating performance. Commissioning methods and tools are required to ensure that advanced components and systems reach their technical potential and operate energy-efficiently.
