The 26th international conference on Passive and Low Energy Architecture (PLEA2009) explores the quest for passive and low energy architecture through the occupants’ perspective at the urban and building scales. In the current context of major technological shifts within the fields of alternative materials and energy, the aim of the conference is to position the inhabitants as a key “active” determinant of energy performance in “passive” design through adaptive opportunities.

The Parties have agreed the following preliminary overarching themes for this MoU:Globally consistent metrics and protocols for measuring, accounting and reporting of energy use and the resulting impacts particularly with respect to greenhouse gas emission of buildings. Joint leadership and collaboration in the development of the core metric and protocol. Discrete leadership and decision rights for complimentary metrics/ programmes with support from the Parties.
