ZERO-PLUS is a comprehensive, cost-effective approach for the design, construction and monitoring of Net Zero Energy Settlements (NZESs). The proposed approach was applied in four case studies in different climatic settings, France, UK, Italy and Cyprus.   ZERO-PLUS settlements exceed the state of art by setting performance objectives requiring improvement relative to other energy-efficient buildings.

The purpose of the report is to present an overview of the underlying programs and procedures that have been created and integrated in order to provide functionality to the ZERO-PLUS monitoring schema.   For the monitoring purposes of the ZERO-PLUS case studies data were collected from many monitoring devices and aggregated in the Web-GIS platform.

Successful implementation of the Renovation Wave is highly dependent on the local level, in particular, the access to funding and the application of innovative instruments in municipalities across Europe.   The Our Buildings report stresses the importance of Long-term renovation strategies (LTRS) for local public authorities, and shares good  practices of financing, data collection and tailored approaches for renovation.

Renewable sources could cover more than one-third of energy demand across the Central and South-Eastern Europe energy connectivity (CESEC) area cost effectively by 2030, regional Renewable Energy Roadmap (REmap) analysis shows.   This study from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) offers a full energy system perspective, examining impacts on energy costs, investment plans, supply security and fossil-fuel consumption, along with, climate, the environment and people’s health.

  Concept:   Construction and demolition waste (CDW) constitutes the largest volume of all solid wastes. As such, it poses not only an economic burden but also a threat to the environment.   Made up of a mix of materials generated during the construction and demolition of buildings or structures, the recycling of CDW remains a challenge.
