The New Urban Agenda is an action-oriented document which sets global standards of achievement in sustainable urban development, rethinking the way we build, manage, and live in cities through drawing together cooperation with committed partners, relevant stakeholders, and urban actors at all levels of government as well as the private sector.

In the context of the U.N. Habitat III conference that took place from 17 to 20 October 2016 in Quito, Ecuador, the European Commission has presented three commitments to meet the New Urban Agenda's global objectives. The Agenda, adopted at the conference, contains guidelines to make cities all over the world more inclusive, green, safe and prosperous.

Am 11. Oktober 2016 präsentierten die Gewinnerstädte des BMBF-Wettbewerbs "Energieffiziente Stadt" die Ergebnisse ihrer 5-jährigen Arbeiten zur Steigerung der Energieeffizienz der Gesamtstadt. Die Abschlusskonferenz fand in Stuttgart statt und bot Einblicke in die intensiven Arbeiten, messbare Ergebnisse, innovative Technologien, Methoden und Werkzeuge und Dienstleistungen die auf andere deutsche und internationale Städte übertragbar sind. Die fünf Städte zeigen Wege hin zu einer energieffizienten, ressourceneffizienten, klimafreundlichen und sozialen Stadt der Zukunft.

On 11 October, 2016 the winner cities of the competition "Energy Efficient Cities" presented the results of their five year work on improving the energy efficiency on a whole city level funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The final project event took place in Stuttgart and allowed insights in the intensive work, measurable results, innovative technologies, methods, tools and services that can be transferred to other German and international cities.
