The H2020 project 4RinEU (Robust and Reliable technology concepts and business models for triggering deep Renovation of Residential buildings in EU) has finalised its first demo case in Norway, renovated with a wooden prefabricated multi-functional façade integrating photovoltaic panels, designed and optimised with the tool Early Reno, developed by eurac research that coordinates the project. The building is a small multi-family house in the city of Oslo, belonging to the portfolio of Boligbygg, the largest social housing agency in Norway.

The increasing integration of decentralized electricity production from renewable energy sources is often suggested as a key technology striving towards a sustainable energy system, mitigating fuel poverty and climate change. In many countries, the growing share of renewable energy sources (RES) goes in parallel with the extensive electrification of demand, e.g. replacement of traditional cars with electrical vehicles or displacement of fossil fuel heating systems, such as gas or oil boilers, with energy efficient heat pump.

Position paper Annex 67 Annex 67 “Energy Flexible Buildings”, is a collaborative project supported by the Energy in Buildings and Communities program of the International Energy Agency. It aims to find a common definition, assessment methodology and to evaluate the flexibility potential of different building typologies and case studies in order to provide a common framework for the future implementation of energy flexibility in buildings.
