REMOURBAN is a large-scale demonstration project, whose objective is to accelerate urban transformation towards the concept of smart city taking into account all aspects of sustainability. The demonstration addresses a holistic intervention in Valladolid (Spain), well balanced in terms of actions on energy, mobility and ICT, which is monitored and properly evaluated.

Szczecin has become the second Polish town to receive a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to finance a municipal development plan for social and affordable housing. The EIB has agreed to lend up to PLN 85 million (approx. €20 million) to two housing companies owned by the City of Szczecin for the construction and renovation of 250 social and affordable housing units (169 new and 81 renovated) and associated underground parking facilities.

Abstract: Innovative designs, such as those taking place in nearly zero-energy buildings, need to tackle Life Cycle Cost, because reducing the impact of use can carry other collateral and unexpected costs. For example, it is interesting to include the evaluation of end-of-life costs by introducing future activities of selective dismantling and waste management, to also improve the environmental performance of the demotion project.

In the district of Statz in Mühlbachl, the local social housing agency implemented a residential project with three energy efficient buildings with 26 apartments and an overall surface of around 1270 m2, that reached the level klimaaktiv gold, the highest one according to the local energy standard.

The project belongs to a larger urban intervention with the new Grand Parc in Bordeaux, with green area and public spaces, and it occupies a central place in redefining the neighbourhood. It also has an identity vocation because it constitutes a visual catch from the perspective created by the plot where it is located. The volume, simple but slightly decomposed, expresses the public and private use of the building and highlights a forecourt that opens on the urban project of the Grand Parc.
