Training and education

The purpose of this application note is to define a generic methodology based on practical experience and existing standards to make robust, ex-ante assessments of energy conservation measures (ECM) in buildings. The focus is on the potential energy and cost savings of medium-sized ECMs with a typical incremental investment cost of between €100k and €1 million. Most of the specified methodologies can also be applied to ECMs in other fields, such as at industrial sites.

To ensure a healthy environment for people living and working in buildings, research and engineering in the area of building acoustics is essential. Developments in modern building concepts, such as sustainable low-energy consuming buildings, buildings with lightweight materials and open plan working environments, as well as the need to build in extremely noisy areas, require involvement of acoustic experts in order to successfully (re)design buildings without negatively impacting upon people’s health and well-being.

This yearly publication presents the progress of a portfolio of 174 European research projects aiming at developing new technologies for energy efficient buildings. 110 projects have been co-funded within the EeB PPP under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) from 2010 to 2013 and 64 projects under the Horizon 2020 Programme (H2020) between 2014 and 2018.

The results of the first pan-European tendering procedure for serial and modular construction have been announced. Nine bidders were awarded the contract in Berlin today for their innovative housing concepts, from which member companies of the umbrella association of the housing industry can now select GdW.
