On 30/11/2015, the 21st session of the Conference of Parties (COP21) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Climate Change (UNFCCC) will begin in Paris with high expectations. Within this context, the financial price assigned to CO2 emissions is of the utmost importance, as it is a determining factor in deciding which mitigation and adaptation measures are worth taking. The article looks at the various approaches for setting a carbon price, its significant variation around the world, and the prospects for a unified framework.

The EU’s energy commissioner, Günther Oettinger, has called for a new legally-binding proposal this autumn to cut energy use by 2030, as a way of curbing Europe’s reliance on Russia for a third of its oil, and 39% of its gas supplies.The bloc has already proposed a binding 40% greenhouse gas reduction objective for 2030, and an obligatory 27% share for renewables in Europe’s energy mix as a whole.

The poster below was found in Rue Montoyer, Brussels. If I understand it correctly, it campaigns for a more ambitious Energy Efficiency Directive, currently under negotiation.I find it quite impressive that the EU Council discussion is featured in the 'street media'. This suggests that the poster's producer believes that the issue is relevant to the average pedestrian.
