Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP) technology provides luxury finish to mixed-use development in London

Share this Post:

The plot on Mentmore Terrace in a highly desirable area of London had stood vacant for more than ten years. The project for the new 5 storey building had to achieve high thermal performance to respect the Building Regulation requirements. To reflect the industrial heritage of the area and achieve the required U-value for the terrace of the luxury penthouse, the architects decided to use Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs) to avoid exceeding the internal floor height.

VIPs achieved the required insulation with 40mm thick panels, a fraction of the thickness of conventional insulation material. The building now features two B2 class business units on the ground floor, a luxury 3 bedroom penthouse with a spacious roof terrace and a secure bike storage area.
