Following the success of previous International Conference on Energy, Environment and Economics, 4th conference will be held in Heriot-Watt University, Riccarton, Edinburgh, Lothians EH14 4AS, UK, 20-22 August 2019. ICEEE2019 focuses on energy, environment and economics of energy systems and their applications. This report analyses the definition of a Zero Carbon building in the UK and compares national Building Regulations in Zero Carbon building with a Passivhaus Classic and renewables. The report highlights problems such as the performance gap, seasonal energy storage, and limits to deploying renewable energy. It sproposes Passivhaus as a feasible way to achieve Zero Carbon without massive renewable energy expansion coupled with a significant investment in grid capacity.

Situated on the Stonehouse peninsula, by the banks of the River Tamar, Number 3 Admirals Hard was built in the 1960s and comprises a shop on the ground floor and WARM's office, originally a flat, on the first floor. The extensive retrofit works included external wall insulation, cavity wall fill, floor insulation (between the office and the shop), roof insulation at rafter level, high levels of air tightness and high-performance triple-glazed windows, as well as a self-balancing MVHR system.

This database tool aims to boost the BIPV penetration in the building sector, overcoming existing barriers as well as encouraging designers with inspiring examples of BIPV buildings and a quick glance at the current BIPV market.
As part of this initiative, a database collecting products is worked in parallel. These products are categorised in (a) modules, (b) mounting systems and (c) energy systems and can then be filtered by colour, size, transparency, technology type, storage, power conversion, etc.
