Sulgrave Gardens comprises 30 family homes in four blocks with a mix of typologies (houses, apartments and maisonettes) and tenures (9 homes for affordable rent, 13 for shared ownership and 8 private houses) in a conservation area in West London. At the time of certification, Sulgrave Gardens was the largest Passivhaus development in London. The scheme is arranged in four blocks. Two are Passivhaus certified and two designed to Passivhaus principles.

Today, over 20 countries from the World Green Building Council's Europe Network, (WorldGBC Europe) have signed an open letter urging the European Commission to recognise the vital role of the built environment sector in delivering a climate neutral Europe. The letter comes as European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete, outlines the European Commission’s vision for a climate neutral Europe at COP24.

Between November 2017 and January 2018 we carried our research into the provision and selection of privately rented student housing across the seven SAVES 2 countries - Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Romania and the UK. Recently this analysis of current trends in the rental accommodation market for students was made public and we can now provide some insights.

December 5 is UN World Soil Day. The building industry has thus been called to account for its role in the massive use of mineral raw materials and environmental pollution. One solution comes from the bio-construction sector which draws on unlimited sources of natural materials such as hemp, which is a recyclable carbon sequestrator. Funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, the QualitEE project aims to increase investment in energy efficiency services in the building sector within the EU and improve trust in service providers. This will be achieved by developing quality assessment criteria and implementing quality assurance schemes. QualitEE builds upon the Transparense project, which established the European Code of Conduct for Energy Performance Contracting in 2014.

On 13th November European Parliament completed the parliamentary approval of half of the eight legislative proposals in the 2016 Clean Energy for All Europeans package, following the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive, which came into force on 9 July.

CEPPI – Coordinated energy-related PPIs actions for cities – aims to build capacity in cities on how to achieve more sustainable energy solutions through a pro-innovation procurement approach. The five cities involved in this project - Birmingham (UK), Budapest (Hungary), Castelló & Valencia (Spain) and Wrocław (Poland) – will intervene in scheduled public tenders to achieve a more sustainable energy outcome. The objective is to save at least 33GWh/year. The project will also help to develop the capacity of public authorities.
