Set up under the revised EU Emissions Trading System Directive, the Modernisation Fund will allocate around EUR 14 billion from the auctioning of allowances from the EU Emissions Trading System for the period 2021-2030, depending on the carbon price. Every beneficiary Member State has its own share of allowances to be used under the Modernisation Fund, as determined by the revised EU Emissions Trading System Directive.

This is an updated version of the Analytical Report “Improving the human capital basis” published in 2017. Based on both statistical data and policy analysis, it provides insights and lessons learnt related to the workforce in the construction sector. The data collection for this report was performed before January 2020, before Brexit went into effect. Therefore, this report refers to EU as EU-28 and the United Kingdom is considered as a part of European Union.

The Executive Agency for Small & Medium-sized enterprises is launching an on-line consultation regarding the future implementation of the BUILD UP Skills initiative.   Launched in 2011, the main objective of BUILD UP Skills is to increase the number of trained and qualified building professionals across Europe, to deliver building renovations offering high-energy performance as well as new Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings.

The SKILLCO Erasmus+ international construction project 2017-20 was successfully completed with 923 individuals participating in the pilot training sessions for four previously identified as missing sectoral skills in three partner countries (Slovenia, Germany and Hungary). The project also resulted in the development of the SKILLgApp mobile application with SkillCO teaching materials to assist learners in training.
