SSPCR 2019 aims to answer the question on how can we maximize the impact of academic research, the scaling-up and replicability opportunities of pilot projects, and the added value of local bottom-up initiatives, in relation to complex challenges posed by the smart city/region approach?   Therefore, building projects that wish to put their work in a larger (urban or regional scale) will find in this conference the right audience.

The EIP-SCC has launched a guidance package to help towns and cities move towards a sustainable future. The toolbox is the fruit of many European projects, including REMOURBAN.   In early May the Committee of Regions held a high-level event to launch the Smart city Guidance Package, a roadmap for integrated planning and implementation for Smart City projects.

History   The history of the IEA began with the 1973-1974 Middle East War crisis and its immediate aftermath.   While oil producing countries appeared relatively well organized to utilize their new oil based economic and political power, many OECD countries found themselves inadequately equipped with the information and organization necessary to meet the corresponding challenges.

History   BASE was founded in 2001 as the Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy. Concept and Objectives   The main goal of QUEST is to promote investments in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency by identifying and empirically risk-grading factors that influence performance.   QUEST will develop a simple toolkit to evaluate these investments. It may be easily applied to all types of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency investments and covers project design-construction-operation risks.

With the EU planning aimed at nearly zero energy target for new buildings by 2020, the construction sector is confronted with the urgent need to upskills its workforce.   This need implies both meeting the targets and learning how to use innovative approaches and technology solutions to keep high quality of construction and increase the building energy efficiency.
