Hosting capacity can be reached through the market uptake of citizen energy communities (CEC).   The EU-funded LIGHTNESS project will increase the renewable energy capacity through social engagement, a regulatory roadmap, a low-cost technological package and innovative business models.

Concept:   The building sector is the single largest energy consumer in Europe. Within its 2030 climate and energy framework, the EU has committed to improving the energy performance of buildings.   Since three quarters of today’s buildings will still exist in 2050, the key to a low carbon building stock is to renovate.

AMPERE’s model-driven engineering (MDE) framework addresses this challenge.
