Electrification would lead to an increase in decentralised resources, notably in our buildings. These assets at the demand side could become flexible assets if enabled to adapt their consumption and generation patterns in a time-dependent way.

These distributed, flexible resources can take the form of a heat pump, a home-battery, a smart dishwasher, a smart and bidirectional charger for EVs, rooftop solar, etc. – a large spectrum of assets behind the meter that are already present in our buildings and will increasingly populate them.
