The Moldovan government, with support from the Ministry of Energy, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and other partners, has introduced significant energy efficiency regulations for new and renovated buildings. The regulations cover nine types of buildings, including residential, commercial, and public structures, requiring improvements such as enhanced insulation, modern heating systems, and efficient lighting.

These measures align Moldova with international Energy Performance of Buildings standards. The regulations result from a collaboration involving experts and a feasibility study. Once implemented, buildings meeting the criteria will receive energy performance certification, benefiting consumers by reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
