The Directorate-General for Energy and the Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation organised on March 16, 2011, an Information Session on the BUILD UP Skills initiative.
With BUILD UP Skills, the European Sustainable Building Workforce Initiative, the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) programme is offering funding opportunities to unite forces and increase the number of qualified workers in Europe's building workforce, focusing on the continuing education of craftsmen and on-site workers.

The information session of March 16, which gathered European stakeholders from the construction, energy, education and training sectors as well as national contact points from the Intelligent Energy Europe programme, aimed to offer an overview of the EU policy background as well as detailed information on the BUILD UP Skills priorities for funding in 2011, namely "national qualification platforms and roadmaps to 2020". This included a review of the key objectives of the Initiative, the selection procedure as well as advice to prepare successful proposals.
