The new Central Building of Leuphana University represents an exemplary sustainable campus. It is part of the "Climate-neutral campus" project, which was nominated for the German sustainability award. The building concept and design started from an idea elaborated from a group of students within a university seminar with the architect Daniel Libeskind.

The Upgrade DH project will support and initiate the upgrading process of eight district heating demo cases in Europe in the following countries: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Denmark, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and The Netherlands and will provide the basis for replication to other cities.

On 15 July 2020, the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) will co-host the online event “Building the future 2020 – boosting innovation in the construction industry”. Projects developing new construction materials to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and fostering a circular economy will show how this industry can become more sustainable. The event also concludes the EU project INNOVIP.

Alnatura Working Environment is in the city of Darmstadt in Germany, and has been designed by Haas Cook Zemmrich STUDIO2050. This building is an example of new construction realized with a people-centric and sustainable design approach.
The building is the working place of 500 employees on three floors with a floor area of approximately 10,000 m2.

The H2020 Penny Project - Psychological social & financial barriers to energy efficiency - applies a behavioural science approach to better understand individual behaviour in the domain of energy efficiency. In particular, the project seeks to advance the understanding of consumer decisions in relation to both the use of energy and the adoption of energy-efficient technologies.
