This issue of the DYNASTEE newsletter provides information on the 8th Summer School with focus on energy performance of buildings that will take place this summer in Granada, Spain, a second Summer School on modelling and forecasting in energy systems that will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark and finally the announcement of the Nordic Symposium 2020, that will take place in Tallinn, Estonia. In the frame of the 6th IEA-EBC Annex 71 meeting a symposium was organised by DYNASTEE for which you will find a short summary article.

On 25 June, in collaboration with BUILD UP, the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) organised a webinar to invite architects to engage with piloting the Level(s) scheme. The event was moderated by Dr. Judit Kimpian, Chair of the ACE Sustainability Work Group and organised as part of a project supported by the Creative Europe programme. Speakers discussed the aims, applicability, case studies and benefits of the Level(s) scheme and outlined ways of participating in the testing phase.

As occupant behaviour can be considered as one of the main drivers of the performance gap, the Horizon 2020 funded TOPAs project (Tools for cOntinuous building Performance Auditing) will focus on reducing the gap from an operational perspective, hence supporting Post Occupancy Evaluation. Quantifying the performance gap is non-trivial, the performance gap is dependent on time and contextual factors, and individual buildings will have a particular performance gap.

iBROAD, the new Horizon 2020 project aiming to explore, design, develop and demonstrate the concept of individual Building Renovation ROADmaps, kicked off  on 3-4 July 2017 in Athens, Greece.   These building renovation roadmaps will serve as a tool outlining deep step-by-step renovation plans with customised recommendations for individual buildings (iBROAD-Plan), combined with a repository of building-related information (logbook, iBROAD- Log).

Families across Europe are taking steps that will reduce their energy consumption by more than 3,000,000 kWh thanks to the work of the EU funded FIESTA project.   The project, coordinated by Area Science Park Trieste, has carried out more than 1,022 energy audits with families in five European countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Italy and Spain. The project includes five technical partners (one for each participating country) and 14 cities.

The economic assessment tool allows estimating the energy saving potential and economic benefits of retrofitting shopping centers. The tool targets managers and owners and allows entering relevant information about their centre. It provides quick information on the energy consumption and options to reduce energy demand, CO2-emissions, environmental impacts and provides an economic assessment of the investments.
